Hi there Scotty 👋🏻 hope life is well out there. I'm writing to you from California. I'm nearly 40 and grew up here. As you know, it's expensive as hell here and survival seems like a luxury. I spent some time in Thailand years ago and I always daydreamed about going back to Southeast Asia. But as you know each country has its individual challenges. Philippines for example is great for Westerners but the opportunity to teach English isn't a thing. Thailand has a bunch of hoops to jump through for long term stays. Vietnam from what I know is similar and it might be harder to feel welcomed there is the feeling I get. Cambodia is great but still far behind in infrastructure, healthcare, modern amenities etc. If you don't mind me picking your brains, which destination would you say is best for someone who wants to try their luck for the long term and explore opportunities with little money? It seems like Cambodia at the moment is the only place that's possible given their not so strict visa requirements. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm really stoked you were able to escape the chaos of the U.S. I can't imagine what you experienced being unhoused and it breaks my heart. If it wasn't because of my family and close friends telling me not go venture out there, and also unfortunately an injury I've been dealing with, I'd book my one way ticket. I'd like to know your thoughts on how to survive out there. Is teaching English something that's inevitable for people that need the income or are there other opportunities that aren't so obvious to outsiders? Thanks in advance bro 🙏🏻 take it easy.
